Ugh, I've got to say rabbit ears are one of the ugliest trends in lolita, ever. Especially that new headbow AP put out that honestly for real looks like you have two maxi pads sticking out of your head. http://www.angelicpretty.com/shopping/item/head/kc/132KC5-8614/132KC5-8614.htm

Oh my god it does look like maxipads. I do love bunnies, but not wearing their ears.

This is especially funny to me because I use washable cloth pads, and...yeah...the rabbit ears really do resemble those. XD

Yep. I'm all for wearing ridiculous stuff for the lols, but some things are just...no. This is one of those things xD I don't get the immense popularity of rabbits and rabbit ears in general among lolitas. I don't even really like rabbits

I don't understand the appeal either. I grew up in a family with hunters. I think of rabbits and deer as food (and if anyone actually shot a FAWN and had the audacity to wear the pelt in public around my hometown, nobody would ever speak to them again). :) It's rude of me and I don't say this to people but there is a part of me that always thinks, "if you're going to be an animal, be a predator, not the prey."

Some of the bunny prints are pretty cute, and I don't love them enough to pay $300 for them and then alter them to fit me, but if they were less expensive and fit off the rack I wouldn't necessarily turn up my nose at them. But I don't think I could ever seriously wear bunny ears except maybe on a very silly hoodie/parka (I do have parkas with cat ears). Not a dressy coordinate.

Maybe it has to do with the Alice thing?

I would say it definitely has something to do with Alice. That's probably why cats are so popular too (and I'm not a cat person either, but I wouldn't go past something nice with cat ears on it since cat ears can look pretty much the same as fox, wolf or dog ears and could easily work for a co-ord with any of those animals, all of which I happen to love).
I actually really do know what you mean about the whole predator/prey thing. I have never hunted, or ate a rabbit or a deer (the only similar game animal that I have eaten is kangaroo which you can buy at supermarkets here), but most of the animals I love are predators. The only "food" animal I really love is reindeer - I'm crazy about reindeer actually, I think they are one of the cutest animals ever, food or not, and if a reindeer print was released I would snap it up in a heartbeat! That love doesn't extend to other members of the deer family though. White-tail deer (which seem to be everywhere in lolita) don't do anything for me at all.
In fact, I can't think of any animal-themed print that has been released has really held any interest for me. I think I probably just like "un-lolita" animals, hahaha

I wanted the Baroque print with bunnies but that was more for the keys and the specific colour combos than the bunnies.

I do love cats but they are cuddly little predators ;) Fawns are cute but I wouldn't want to look like I had shot one, and deer lose any romantic mystique they ever had when:

a) you are trying to keep them out of your kitchen garden; or
b) your car is effed up because a suicidal/stupid deer ran out into the road before you could stop (if you're lucky neither the meat nor the car is ruined, but often enough it's both).

I live in San Francisco now.

It's cute when you're little. Or the FIRST time you see it. But deer overpopulation is a big problem in many rural/semi-rural areas because we have killed off the wolves and bears and such who used to eat them. So there's not enough food for them all, which means they will steal yours right out of the ground.

I wonder, how they should be worn…? Should the ears point to the finger tips?

The ears point back up the arm, because the flared part of wristcuffs always points towards the hand. XD

That is generally true but if you're wearing something baroque-inspired it looks better the other way. Which is a moot point here because these should only be worn by someone who loves them enough not to care how silly they look.

I think you are supposed to draw a rabbit face on your hand. Either way, no matter how you wear them, it's fucking ugly
